BELIEVE IN ME AWARDS CEREMONY 2005

The Believe in Me Awards were held at Claridge’s Hotel, London, on the 16th of March 2005.

Over 28,000 nomination forms were sent out to young people in England through The Who Cares? Trust’s award-winning magazine Who Cares?. The Trust received over 750 nomination forms, which were then put through the judging criteria.

There were 3 stages of judging to whittle the nomination forms down to 25 winners.

The judging panel included both adults who work in the social care sector and young people in care. The 25 winners came from a variety of professional backgrounds, ranging from teachers and social workers to foster carers and residential workers.

The winners and the young people who nominated them were all invited to attend the Believe in Me Awards ceremony. In total, 200 guests attended the ceremony, which was presented by Katy Hill. Celebrities were in abundance – Kevin Sacre and Connie Powney from Hollyoaks, model and former Hollyoaks cast member Natasha Lund, Amanda Mealing from Holby City, and a very special guest star.

A range of performers entertained the guests throughout the afternoon. The Charlotte Black Duo wowed the crowd with traditional jazz, MC Mr E gave a rap performance that had the crowd in awe, and singer-songwriter Sarah Bennett performed two beautiful self-penned songs.

It was a very magical day for all those who attended. The venue was spectacular, the atmosphere was electrifying and all the winners and guests who attended felt that the day exceeded their expectations.
