The Government have asked a group of adoption agencies in the voluntary and statutory sector to review the assessment processes for prospective adopters.
It is hoped that the changes will increase the speed of approval for adopters and reduce bureaucracy. Any proposals need to ensure that potential adopters provide a positive, safe home for a child.
The group will work with Martin Narey, the Government's Adoption Adviser, and provide recommendations in March on a new, more efficient process to be introduced later in 2012.
