The Health and Social Care Bill, which aims to change the way the NHS works, enters the report stage in the House of Lords today.
The Who Cares? Trust has joined forces with a group of concerned organisations, led by National Children’s Bureau and Children’s Rights Alliance for England, to call for the Bill to involve children more effectively in the new NHS structures.
The proposed changes in the NHS have the potential to have significant impact on the way in which health services for looked-after children and care leavers are commissioned. We know that children’s views are often not sought or are overlooked within the NHS. This echoes the experience of looked-after children in too many other areas of their life.
