Take part in Biking for Children in Care's 2010 event

1 March 2010

Biking for Children in Care is organised by a group of dedicated supporters who every year take on a new cycling challenge. The event continues to go from strength to strength and has raised over £300,000 in recent years for our work supporting children in care. An amazing £40,000 was raised from last year's Loire Valley cycle ride to support a project to improve the literacy skills of children in care.

This year's cycle will take on the wild north country, cycling between Hadrian's Wall and the Scottish border and along the banks of the stunning Kielder Water and Kielder National Forest. They plan to visit Newcastle, Carlisle and some amazing places in between.

This 200-mile cycle takes place over a long weekend Thursday 24 to Monday 28 June 2010.

Probable route:

  • Thursday 24th June 2010 travel by 08.30 train from King’s Cross to Newcastle. Metro to Airport Park and Ride. Unload bikes and bike to Bellingham.
  • Friday 25th June: Bellingham to Carlisle via Kielder Water
  • Saturday 26th June: Carlisle to Otterburn
  • Sunday 27th June: Otterburn to Newcastle
  • Monday 30th June: Train from Newcastle to London

There are only 50 biking places available, and we have already had lots of enquiries. If you would like to take part or get involved in Biking for Children in Care please contact Lucy Conoboy on 020 7017 2789 or complete our online enquiry form.
