Helping children in care to thrive

It's Foster Care Fortnight - do you have the skills to foster?

17 May 2010

Foster Care Fortnight, co-ordinated by UK-wide charity the Fostering Network, begins on Monday 17 May.

Under the strapline 'do you have the skills to foster?' the campaign encourages people to consider a career in fostering and asks them to look at the skills and qualities they have which could make them a great foster carer.

Foster care has changed dramatically over the last 30 years. Today fostering is a career, uniquely combining family life with a skilled profession. There is a shortage of at least 10,000 foster carers across the UK, and more foster carers are needed to provide children with safe and caring homes while they are unable to live with their own families. A diverse range of people with the right skills and qualities are required to meet the needs of children in care.

We are offering 50% off of Choice Matters, our interactive DVD-rom that facilitates open communication between foster carers and the children in their care, as a special Fostering Fortnight offer. Buy your copies now.
