The Who Cares? Trust has appointed Victoria Hull to the post of Policy, Research and Projects Officer. Victoria will be leaving her position as National Director of the Care Leavers’ Association to join the Trust on 1 July 2010.
Victoria has a wealth of experience in working to improve the lives of young people in and from care. She joined the Care Leavers' Association, a user-led charity for people who grew up in care, as National Development Worker in 2004 and went on to become National Director. She also has over seven years' experience as the deputy Chair of a fostering assessment panel in the North West of England.
For the last two years Victoria has acted as policy lead for the Care Leavers' Association on issues relating to unaccompanied asylum seeking children and children missing from care. In addition, Victoria’s own experience of being in care gives her an empathetic understanding of the system and how it needs to improve.
The Who Cares? Trust’s Chief Executive, Natasha Finlayson, said: “We are delighted to have Victoria join us. The Trust is determined that its projects have the greatest possible impact on the lives of looked-after children, and that our work is based on robust research about what makes the most positive difference to these young people’s outcomes. Victoria has absolutely the right blend of knowledge and hands-on experience to help us achieve that.”
