Campaign postcards now available

Young people speak in Parliament:
- Young people volunteering for 'Don’t Write Us Off' attended the APPG for Looked After Children and Care Leavers held in the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday 18th May 2011. They asked questions, made comments and one of them even sat on the expert panel to talk about fostering. Find out more about the APPG.
Taking to the streets:
- Young people have conducted a street survey to find out what the public really thinks of kids in care. Results showed that although the majority of people we surveyed were not openly prejudiced about children in care, only 10% would use positive terms to describe a ‘typical’ young person in care. Find out more.
Good press:
- Four young people involved in the campaign were featured in the May issue of Children and Young People Now magazine talking about their views on care and the care system. Jordan said ‘Social workers need to have more training. They need to be able to do the things they promise and not promise things if they cannot do them’. Read the article.
APRIL 2011
Manchester Evening News:
- Young people volunteering for the campaign wrote to the Manchester Evening News after they published an article which said that ‘very few children brought up in care go on to lead happy, successful lives’. They wrote from their hearts about how it really feels to see this kind of negative media in local papers. Read their letters.
Photography project gets covered

- Young people from Medway council work on materials for this website. They had a really great day making film clips, sound bites and blogs for the campaign.
Filming gets started
- The film project kicks off with a massive ideas-fest from the young people. We come up with a great concept which we film in half term.

Strike a pose
- Young people volunteering for Who Cares? magazine become top models for the day in a photoshoot for the front cover of the special DON'T WRITE US OFF issue of Who Cares? magazine. Check out the images.

It's a takeover
- Who Cares? magazine gets bashed in to shape by our volunteers. They complete a series of workshops where young people plan, write and design a special DON'T WRITE US OFF issue of Who Cares? magazine. Find out more.

On display
- Hampstead Town Hall hosted an exhibition of the young people's photographs . Young people added comments to their photos to explain ‘The Truth About Care’ through photos.

Photoshop
- Volunteer photographers learn about editing their work through professional workshops. Young people add captions to their work ready for the exhibition.
