Cycle London to Paris
7-10 September 2012
This long weekend challenge links two great European cities, covering around 300k in just three days. We cycle through undulating countryside towards the south coast before taking the ferry to France. From Dieppe we continue through sleepy Normandy villages with some challenging hills until we finish under the Eiffel Tower.
Itinerary
Day 1: Early morning start out of London. We're soon in the countryside taking on some challenging hills with stunning views of the South Downs. We take the ferry and then stay overnight in Dieppe. 98km.
Day 2: This is a great more relaxing days cycling through pretty Normandy countryside and typical french villages. Overnight in Gournay en Bray. 80km.
Day 3: This is a long days cycling to reach Paris via Le Parc aux Etoiles and finish together at the Eiffel Tower. Overnight in Paris with celebratory meal. 114km.
Day 4: Free time in Paris before taking the Eurostar back to St Pancras.
How much will it cost?
The intitial registration fee is £150 and then we ask participants to raise a minimum of £1,000 in sponsorship.
We take care of the all the arrangements including the ferry and Eurostar, accommodation. Full support is included as well as most meals.
Don't worry if you've not raised sponsorship before. We'll be there to support you and you'll receive a full fundraising pack to help you. It can seem daunting but once you get started it's amazing what you can achieve!
What's not included?
Personal travel insurance, meals on free day in Paris, gratuities and spending money. You will also need to provide your own bike.
How fit do I have to be?
We welcome cylists of all levels of fitness and you will be able to go at your own pace. However, you should be willing to put in plenty of training to help meet the challenge. We'll provide you with training tips to help you on your way.
