  Check your body language...

  • Try to arrive ten or fifteen minutes early. This doesn't just give you the opportunity to visit the loo – time spent waiting in the reception area can be very useful if there are publications about the employer to read.
  • Shake hands with the interviewer when you arrive and wait to be invited to sit down.
  • Sit up straight and make eye contact with the interviewer or interview panel.
  • Smile and be polite - it's important to make a good impression on everyone you meet.
  • Remember to shake their hand and thank them for seeing you before you leave.
  • Don't fidget and try to avoid meaningless phrases like "you know", or "I mean".

  Take your time...

There aren't any right or wrong answers to interview questions -  how you come across is as important as what you say.

  • Always tell the truth - it's normally obvious when someone's lying, and you don't want to get caught out later.
  • Listen carefully to the questions and think before you speak - ask for more detail if you're unsure about what they're asking.
  • Speak clearly and not too quickly.
  • There aren't any right or wrong answers to interview questions -  how you come across is as important as what you say. Common interview questions include:
    • What attracted you to this job?
    • Why are you leaving your current job?
    • Why do you want to work for this organisation?
    • What do you see as your strengths and weaknesses?
    • How do you see yourself in 5/10 years time?
    • How do you like to work?
    • What can you bring to this organisation?
    • Why should we employ you?
    • What do you do outside of work?
