Education guides for foster carers and social workers

The common link for those who succeed despite their care experience is a supportive role model who has faith in the young person's abilities.

This is why we have produced two new guides to enable foster carers and social workers to support looked-after children in their learning and inspire them to achieve.

These accessible guides explain to how support a child in care through every step of their educational career - from finding pre-school provision to choosing a college or university - including what extra support they are entitled to and how to tackle problems that arise.
