Where will I live?

There should be a wide range of different types of accommodation options available when you leave care and your Personal Adviser from the local authority ought to find the best one to meet your needs.

The Government says that the accommodation you are offered must be ‘suitable’. Your local authority has to make sure that your new home suits your needs and supports your lifestyle, for example that it’s near to your education or work.

The Government says that bed and breakfast accommodation is not suitable. If it’s the only option in an emergency you should be there for no longer than six weeks before the local authority finds you something better.
