A group of young people in and from care was recruited to take over the editing of one edition of the Who Cares? Trust’s magazine for young people, Who Cares?
Twelve young people took part in a series of workshops with the magazine’s editor to share their ideas and experiences to come up with content for an edition of the magazine. They were involved in crafting and editing every element of that issue of the magazine, from the answers on the problem pages to the true life stories and feature spreads. Feedback, especially about a feature on social workers, was positive.
One of the group, Aicha, said: “I have enjoyed every minute of putting the magazine together. I enjoyed giving advice to young people in care, telling about how young people’s lives have been affected by the negative images in the media when people give the wrong message about them.”
