Before a review your social worker should discuss with your IRO who should come to the meeting, changes since your last review and any reports and other information to be discussed at the review.
Before the meeting everyone involved in your care should be asked what they think, including you and your parents. Your views must be considered before any decisions are taken about your care.
You and your parents should be at the review meeting, unless it is not safe for you to be there at the same time as your parents. In that case, arrangements will be made for you to go to the meeting at different times.
Your carer should be invited to the meeting, as well as other people who care about what happens to you if they have something important to add. However, you must be asked your opinion before these people are invited.
Normally the people at your review meetings will be you, your parents, your carer, your social worker and your IRO. You are allowed to take someone else to the meeting with you if you like, like an independent visitor if you have one, or an advocate (see Chapter 8 for an explanation of what these people do).
You, your parents and carers should be asked about the best time and place for the meeting, and it should happen at a time and place to suit you all. You should not have to miss school or any important appointments.
