Helping children in care to thrive

Why should I care?

David and Jenni's story

Project aim:

To promote and showcase positive messages about social work with children in care.

Outline:

Online publication

This project will explore the relationships between young people in care and their social workers, and bring to life stories of those relationships that have worked exceptionally well in an online publication.

We will explore four relationships through in-depth interviews. These interviews will focus on the quality of the relationship, why it worked, why it was important and how it has affected both parties’ lives. We will interview a diverse group with different ethnic backgrounds and different experiences within the care system. Photographs will aim to capture the special quality of each relationship.

Current progress:

The interview stage has now been completed. Why Should I Care? will be published online in Winter 2011.
